This video shows Part 1 of a productivity test of the Duplo System 5000 bookletmaking system versus a leading competitor. This is a summary edit of the test, which was filmed on two cameras. The Duplo product was 25% more productive, finishing 40 minutes ahead of the competitor. The test consisted of 4 jobs producing a total of 4,900 books. Part 1 and Part 2 are 13 minutes long..
Duplo International Ltd have taken all reasonable precautions to make this productivity test a fair comparison/test between the Duplo System 5000 (10/60pro + DBM500+ DBM500T+ standard output conveyor) and a competitors product (Horizon Vac 100 + SPF200A+ FC200 trimmer and the standard output conveyor). To ensure a fair test we needed to add an optional blower box EAB-100 to the Horizon Vac 100 to ensure comparable feeding performance to the Duplo 10/60 Pro. Also an optional side stitch kit was added to the Horizon product to enable the machine to run Job 3 (this is standard feature on the Duplo product). Both machines were fully loaded with Job 1, set up and ready to run before the test was started. Both operators were fully conversant with their respective machines and followed all on screen instructions that were displayed. The operators were required to run all jobs as per the operator manual and no short cuts were allowed on either machine. Please note that both machines allow the operator to choose speed settings. Operators have to use their judgement as running at higher speeds can lead to increased levels of misfeeds and jams. Each machine was operated to the highest speed setting that allowed for smooth running on each job. On the Horizon machine the operator chose the timings for the highest possible speed whilst the sheets were still properly controlled (this is fully automatic on the Duplo product). These operator speed settings did not have a major bearing on the outcome of the test. Duplo International limited believes that the 4 jobs that were chosen represent fairly a typical busy printer in todays business environment. Duplo International Ltd will supply on request full length version of the entire video on DVD. Duplo International Ltd reserves the right to charge a £35.00 fee (including postage and packing) to cover cost of production for this full version DVD. • All the video shows is both machines running the same jobs and the result. As the commentry makes clear at the start of the video it is not a scientific test, but we did sincerly try to show both systems as they run in the real world.

  • The person running the system is not a salesperson, but a product manager with over 35 years experience in finishing. He was able to run the system well, but for both systems the operators had to follow all on screen instructions and the manual. There may have been short cuts for both machines but these were not allowed. I have no negative comment on the competitor machine, as I am sure that there are printers out there doing good work on the system.

  • Thank you for your comment. It is great to hear this feedback from someone who has been using the system over a long timescale. Happy finishing!

  • The results were inconclusive with the operators naked.

  • Isn't that a Duplo salesman running the 'alternative' system? Has he had any training?

  • I am owner of the "leading competitor"´s-machine.

And i just can say 1500 booklets in nearly one hour to produce A4 in only one tower is not exemplary. This is definitely too slow. And no comment to 23min settin-time.

    But nice video

  • I have been working with this system for 2 years.

Definately the more userfriendly and highest productible system of the market.
