Subscribers have asked to see how to carve a Figure 4 trap. Well I got a couple of new knives from TOPS that I wanted to test out.. and thought this would be a great project to do so. The knives were all that I thought they would be and more.. and the trap works great!

  • What happened to the Dave from naked into the wilderness? The everyday man.

  • I appreciate all of the comments. Let me say that what we try to represent is a well rounded bushcrafting channel. Not everything is about "budget". We try to offer suggestions for quality equipment, as well as doing without if necessary. I hope that people can understand that.

  • any particular reason why the bottom piece of wood is that much thinner then the other two?

  • @p0lska2012

I assume that you mean the trigger.. It's so that it doesn't weigh down and come loose by itself...

  • I noticed that several comments were made about the price of these knives. How much do they cost?

  • @biguy525

If you go to Tops website listed in the video and the sidebar.. you can get exact prices.. but both knives are right in the $100 range..

  • Geeez David, another great video, but $100 for a neck knife! Definitely not a budget bushcraft knife especially when there are several other alternatives for alot less $. Such as the Becker Necker.

  • great vids dave take care and have a merry christmas god bless

  • Dave i always notch the upright stick so the trigger fits into it and if you have your bait getting stolen i have found that if you split the tip of your trigger stick you can shove the bait into the trigger stick making it tougher for the critter to dine and ditch(also if you put a little pine sap at the split tip i works like glue to really secure the bait).Dave thanks for these videos, i always like learning different ways to do stuff. The figure 4 spring snare could make a good video as well.

  • Nice Vids Dave, good to see ya again. I also noticed u are wearing the new Camo Ribz. Cool!

  • Well it looks like someone is trying to get someone to sell some knives.

  • Big Fan of TOPS.

  • Very good demonstration of the figure 4 trap. That Mil-Spie3 looks like a dandy of a knife. 1095 is my favorite steel too.
