One thing I like about developing on Android - Java developers can easily jump in to the environment.
One thing I'd like to see - ability to build desktop widgets.

well i had at least one who wants to walk in off the street and do JNI which wont happen but there is an immense opportunity here to sit down and start writing code but we could do without the IDE's that we are almost forced to use

It is easy indeed for Java Developers or Programmers to Build Desktop Widgets.

An update... with Android 1.5 developers were given the ability to write custom widgets for the operating system, so Jeff's wish came true.

we definitely need more widgets and google to provide us with widget APIs. However, it seems that there are people already doing it in their custom "home" screen (such as aHome, cant recall the name exactly) in which it has a weather widget and a digital clock widget but id love to see the same widgets on the default "home" app or screen
