  • And what toysRus did you get this from again?

  • Ebay, and then rebuilt the innards. Hey...it was a cheap platform to start from, and with a $600 budget...sometimes you have to start cheap.

    Can't buy a $50,000 robot on a $600 budget.

  • "And yes it does matter?" Honestly, now that you've established its not a "robot," how did that matter? Exactly what has been accomplished by that? Do you feel better? Feel smarter? Just curious what the important point you were making was...

  • this is just an RC... no robot?

  • Honestly, you actually took the time to post this comment? Its a remote-controlled vehicle, that can be deployed into a house. It sends a video signal back out so it can be driven, and explore the house. It is what it is. If you don't want to call it a "robot," that is fine. Admittedly, it has no artificial intelligence, and no articulatable arms or tools. The project is dead, so it doesn't really matter a whole bunch what we call it, eh?

  • Is it my imagination or is this the music from the toilet scene in trainspotting... when he goes down under water to get the suppositories.

  • Yes. I know the music is from Trainspotting. Good ear. I'm not sure its the toilet scene, but its as likely as not.

    :-)

  • That sounds like a shrieking pig. How do you get that close to someone to spy on???

  • were did you get that?

  • @voidpulp either way you put it, the project is just good fun. poking around the house and all.

  • this sucks

  • Do you guys understand this robot entirely? If yes , can you contact my YouTube account please. My father bought me one of these when they first came out and I have a problem with the back track gears not connecting with each other so I skips some treads when trying to make it balance on it's rear tracks.

  • I think its pretty cool. I would build one if I had 600 to spend. Dont mind the haters, they jealous.

  • gotta love that seductive music.

  • @voidpulp

After seeing this video we looked long and hard to find the original robot. We finally have a variant available at RobotShop (product code RB-Oci-01). Note that the maximum stair height it can climb is about 6 inches. This makes a great platform for development.

  • whats the name of the music used in this video? pretty awesome robot!

  • Let's see it climb curved stairs.
