The Holy Innocents Choir of St. John Cantius singing Torches by John Joubert at the Festival of Lessons and Carols at the Shrine Our Lady of Mt. Carmel December 16, 2007.
I used to sing this in Ledbury church choir as a kid back in the 1970's. It's still today my favourite all time Carol. Just for information its by John Joubert, (He may still be alive) and is simply called "Torches!"
This version is waay too slow - it should be sung with far greater gusto!
The conductor for the choir I belong to would have a fit if he saw this. He always wants us to sing this as if we were rum-swiggin' Vikings or something, very quick and energetic. xD
But this sounds quite lovely. I greatly enjoy doing this song.
