@theking0fnowhere He's not an asshole. He's just a writer under attack, as most great writers are while they are alive. If you look at the historic trajectory, the greatest writers often were the ones rejected in their time. How would you deal with being undervalued although you have amazing talent? You can do one of two things: bury yourself, or rise above it. He is rising above it. Read his books. One day, when we are all gone, our grandchildren will know their real value.

@lovinliverpool The story doesn't have to be entirely true to be true. Truth is a subjective thing. Every story is different depending who tells it. That doesn't change the validity of someone's experience. If the events in the story aren't all 100% accurate, this doesn't discount its core meaning. This story is true for MANY people. Many people have faced the difficulties faced by the character in the book, and lost loved ones, etc. I urge you to finish it. It's beautiful.

@TheJoecrawley Continued comment: This is why so many people were so deeply affected by the story. James has the ability to convey his message so eloquently and beautifully, and this touched many people's hearts. It doesn't matter if HIS Lilly died. Someone's Lilly died. Many a Lilly has died. So the real message of this book resounds powerfully.

@TheJoecrawley Every story ever told is someone's story. Although a story as a whole may not be 100% true, every part of it has occurred in someone's life. Our ideas exist because they are a reflection of our reality. Even though we may not have experienced a certain reality ourselves, we have the inherent human compassion that allows us to understand it. It does not matter if James' story was entirely true for him, because every part of it IS true to someone's experience. .

I don't care what was true and what was not true in a million little pieces because it was exceptional. But I would love to know what was true and wasn't and if he himself went through it.. just for curiosities sake. but he is a wonderful man. who gives a shit what he wrote? freedom of speech and he did it outstandingly

i'm doing "a million little pieces" for my serious in speech. I expect it to do good

A Million Little Pieces was and is an amazing book. I think the publishers did more harm than James. He told his story- he didn't say EVER it was ALL real. I would challenge anyone out there, including Oprah, to write or tell their story without taking a few liberties. We all reflect and experience things differently, that's the human part of any experience. The only consistant part of any experience is that EVERYONE experiences it differently.

Lol u r stupid dickhead

Oprah was a huge bitch to him. I don't understand why just because he exaggerated parts of his experience people get personally offended. He wrote a really beautiful and powerful book that affected a lot of people, and if all you got out of it was "THIS IS A TRUE STORY WOW" then I feel bad for you.

he is a fraud. eithr write a novel or an autobiography, you can not do both or you are tricking the reader. he even exploited the whole lilly thing when in fact she didnt kill herself. shameless exploitation of the readers emotions. i dont like him.
I have respect for him because he doesn't really give a fuck. People we need to tell the truth don't tell the truth: Bush, Clinton, Obama. even fucking Oprah herself. The ones who asked for their money back for 'a million little pieces' really need to look at the world they live in, and consider the credibility of their own reality.

I wouldn't care if A Million Little Pieces was 100% false, I thought it was a beautifully written book, I love his style, I seriously didn't put the book down as soon as I picked it up
