Erick Friedman was one of the 20th century's greatest violinists. He was the only violinist who was both a protege of Heifetz and disciple of Milstein. Here he is joined by the pianist Pavel Ostrovsky in the performance of violin and piano music by another great violinist, Fritz Kreisler. I was Erick Friedman's teaching assistant in Europe and worldwide manager, from 1994 until his sad death in 2004.

  • I like this tempo. Many performers drag out the preludium. Friedman's interpretation has a great pulse to it. Nice, even sound. Spiccato could be a little more even at times, but probably the best performance I've seen or heard of this piece.
