And those fiery flowers are called 'Panzers'? Like the term for those German tanks from World War II? Awesome. =p

The weed thing looks like a shallot or spring onion to me, but it could be a turnip, yes.

Needless to say, that dragon you mentioned during the triclyde fight is gleelok. and to answer the question of riding a koopa shell, it can also be done in the 8bit version, and I think you can pick the shell up while riding it. Not a bad video there, and hang in there man.
