"That's what she told me after our phone call last night." Selena explained into the phone. "I didn't want to say anything, but I was just afraid she'd get out of control again . . . you know, after spilling punch all over Taylor's dress and called her dumb blonde and all at the AMAs."

"Thank you, Selena . . . that was extremely nice of you." Tish responded tensely. "How were you aware of Miley's whereabouts?" she asked again.

"I guess Miley had given him the address and he flew out to see her and by what he told me, Miley's more out of control than ever."

Nick clasped his hand softly around Miley's under the dinner table and he looked up to meet Joe's blatantly glare. He simply stared and took a sip of his iced tea.

"Why are you looking at your brother like that, Joe?" Denise wondered.

"Yeah, Joe, do you have something in your eye or something?" Nick laughed and Miley nudged her elbow into his arm. "Sorry." He mumbled.

The phone rang and Denise excused herself from the table, but not before telling Joe and Nick to respect their dinners and eat. She picked up the white porcelain phone and brought it to her ear, "Jonas residence, Denise speaking."

"It's Tish. May I speak to Miley?"

"Miley." Denise called from the kitchen, "your mother is on the phone."

"Oh no," Miley joked and let go of Nick's embrace and walked into the kitchen, taking the phone from Denise. "Hello?"

"You think this is funny, don't you?"

"Well, I'm not laughing . . ." Miley answered confused.

"Do you even understand why I sent you all the way to Fresno? To learn from your damn, mistakes, Miley. The whole incident with Taylor and then you running off and just leaving the home with Liam. Miley, you're out of control. I sent you to the Jonas family to get you back to your roots, but here I am, pulling you out of that damn hole once again."

"What are you—"

"Was there a need to get drunk and party all night to the point where you don't remember what happened the next day?" Paparazzi are everywhere. They know where to find people when they really want to. I'm so sick and tired of all this crap that I've had to dig yourself out of. You didn't even have the respect to tell me. I found this out from your best friend, Miley. Your best friend. Maybe . . . maybe you should step out of the spotlight for a while, just—"

"You of all people should not believe things people tell you, mom. When you should know they're untrue, and no, you cannot make me give up my dreams over bullshit rumors from my so-called friends." Miley slammed the phone down and walked past everyone in the dining room into her temporary bedroom.

"Go away!" Miley screamed when she heard someone follow in after her.

Nick encased his muscular arms around Miley's waist, "what's going on, Miley?" He whispered against her hair and pulled her into his flush.

"I don't want to be here anymore. I'm tired of this stupid heat. I'm tired of being treated like I'm stupid and that I need special help. I'm tired of being in this stupid house. I just want to go home and away from here."

"You were finally starting your real smile again—"

"You know nothing. You barely know anything about me, Nick, so why are you even trying with this bullshit right now?" Miley retorted harshly.

"Because I care—"

"Do you? Or am I just another girl in your book? Are you just playing me like every other guy that I've dated, Nick? It's not like we'd last anyways."

Nick's arms loosened from around Miley's waist, "I guess I see where you stand with this relationship." He noted bitterly.

"Just go away." Miley spat venomously.

"Gladly." Nick snaked his way out the door, slamming it shut behind him.
