  • As someone said - different strokes. This is a very nice blending of traditional

style with a very lovely classical piece. They're excellent musicians. My only

objection to the cello, which is played well and goes perfectly, is that it

overwhelms Alec Finn's bouzouki accompaniment which is, as always

    quite brilliant.

This is a better setting - whistle is doing the cello stuff

    This good too

  • I find it awful. Sounding....so mechanic and soulless. This music is not meant to be played "traditonal style". And Irish music is so rich, doesn't need to venture into Haendel or Bach or the Beatles... the Bhodran player seems to be annoyed too...

  • That Cello is doing my head in. The other pieces they played on this show survived without it and this one should have too. In any case it seems like a pretty low key performance of the tune.

  • Give me a break my ass! My response to that...different strokes for different folks. I think the cello sounds terrible because it's interefering with and drowning out Alec Finn's bouzouki, which should be left alone!

    Anyway, the cello sucks!

  • Give me a break, the cello sounds great

  • No! That fucking cello needs to go! The version on "Song for Ireland" without it is much better for that reason!

  • Well known to all Dé Danann fans, there are a few versions of this on 'The Tube", but none come close to this.

The cello adds much, and no string-quartet from anywhere plays with this degree of verve.
