Making Acid on a KORG EMX-1

This is just a little video I made showing how I noodle some acid out of my KORG EMX-1 drum machine/sequencer/synthesizer. I start with basically a TR-606 / TR-808 Kit set up, and then throw in a TB-303-Sounding Bassline (which is actually just a square wave in a lower octave, with the cutoff and reso noodled around with). I then throw in some Electric Piano Chords, and a bit of Piano befor my camera dies. More vids to come! There were no other external effects going on, it was all in the drum machine, and the only effect going on there was an EQ sent to some drum parts to make them sound better and more "TR-606-Like."

Yup, I'll have to agree with that. It's kinda wierd though. I'll give it a shot in my next video.

Hey, great vids, I finally got an MX after years of wanting one, and your vids are helpful.

I had a Yamaha rm1x for a while and I'm finding the 'tribe more intuitive and better build quality.

The drum machine part is pretty self-explanatory, but I'm having a harder time understanding the synth parts.

for instance, what exactly are you doing with your left hand @4:00 ?

What electronic filter do you use to get the 303 (HPF, LPF?) Also do you have it on dual oscillator, or waveform?

Did you set the ribbon controller to control something besides the default? (staccato, legato)

Would I be able to somehow use this for the main beat and have a software tr303 rigged up to something else or maybe ideally this device simultaneously though I see that may be asking too much :). I saw someone using the emx as a midi controller running several tr303 synths but wasnt sure if you could do it while also using the emx. what would be good is to use the emx for the main beat and software for the bassline but still have them all playing live in a jam.

does the machine auto quantize for you as you go? I imaigne it would take away from the jam if you had to worry about getting it in synch all the time?
