im going to guess...U2 in 1987-88 visited Memphis-you can see this in the movie Rattle and Hum,they also visited Sun Studios,the very famous recording studio in downton Memphis,that discovered many 50's legends,including Elvis and JohnnyCash-U2 being huge Elvis fans themselves recorded Desire in that very studio,i am sure while there they recorded some other stuff and what better place to record an Elvis song,where the King himself had sung,acoutics on mic sounds like they used old mic as well
