Timing chain on it's way out. Going on experience.. NEVER buy a 1.0 Corsa C. Get a 1.2 SXi twinport( recently upgraded and love it) and don't regret buying the heap of a 1.0 like I had. (great consumer advice if i'm honest) but the timing chains are a renound failure on all C's at average failure is 60k although the kit has been redesigned 3 times after a recalls as some chains went at 10k.

Timing chain/tensioner costs between 180-450 depending on garage and don't take it to VX as they charge a bomb apparently, mine cost £250 inc fitting!

  • Mine's sound's like that only when i start it up though not sure if it''s the timing chain though :(

  • @pitbike27 Mine sounds like that for 2 seconds when you start it up, it's just the oil taking a second or two to filter through the engine as far as i know)

  • Thats the smallest engine ive ever seen

  • sounds like a 1 zylinder diesel ;D

  • I can get a cam chain kit for 110 for.my.1.2 16v corsa b.

  • @wkdkris Belt ftw. 129,000 and 1 belt replacment in its 11 yrs got cambelt due when i fit my upgraded cams....its had a lightweight ally flywheel, stage 1 induction, dropped by 55mm, 15" rear wheels 14" fronts. gets to 60mph 5.9secs. like a little drag car....BEAST

  • My 1.6 16v Vx Corsa Sport rattles like this but mines the cam shaft oil seal thats worn and my cams chatter like crazzzzzy, all chatters between 1100 - 2000 revs. it goes quiet at 2100 revs!!! Soooo annoying when approaching traffic.

Dont help being swiped off a dual carriageway by a 70yr old in a bmw 320i who decides to pull right into my n/s/r wheel and span me around.....£5,000 for us whiplash and damages!! pays for my cams etc....

  • @mld0491 i think i got it worse than you, 850cc with pushrods :(

  • no the chain will rattle its head off but wil not cause damage onli the ford transits slip teeth its onli the guide rails on side of chain wear down chill dude lol

  • scrap it and buy a new one, its probably cheaper
