Piano Lesson 04 - Building Chords

Learn how to build chords.
This is last lesson for now, hopefully more to follow soon :)

Some notes on notation:

C = "C major"
C - E - G

Cm = "C minor"
C - Eb - G

Csus4 = "C suspended 4"
C - F - G

C7 = "C seven" (or "C dominant seven")
C - E - G - Bb

Cma7 or Cmaj7 = "C major seven"
C - E - G - B

Cdim = "C diminished"
C - Eb - Gb

C° = "C full diminished"
C - Eb - Gb - A

Cø = "C half diminished"
C - Eb - Gb - Bb

Cm7 = "C minor 7"
C - Eb - G - Bb

Cm ma7 = "C minor major 7"
C - Eb - G - B

C+ = "C augmented"
C - E - G#


One exception I didn't mention is the minor 6 chord, which makes the 6th of the respective minor scale natural. For example:
Cm6 ("C minor 6") makes the 6th of the minor scale natural, so it would be C - Eb - G - A (NOT Ab!)
