This is my new toy that I bought from a govliquidation surplus sale. I had to retrieve it from Redstone Arsenal up in Huntsville Alabama which turned out to be a 13-hour drive up and even longer on the way back. The trailer is an M118A1 3/4 ton and it towed perfectly behind out Toyota Highlander Hybrid. When I got the time to work on the generator the first thing I found was dead batteries. I had to use my M1008A1 CUCV military truck and a set of military jumper cables that hook into the NATO plug to jump start the generator. I spent the better part of a day cleaning out the fuel filter cans and replacing the old filters with new ones that I bought from NAPA. Since my fuel tank was rusty on the bottom and full of nasty looking diesel I decided to make use of some of the auxillary fuel system components that I found inside of the locked storage box on the front of the trailer. I had to assemble the fuel line which took me a while to figure out - the fittings all came with the fuel line but had to be installed on the hose itself. I had a fresh jerry can of diesel on my M35A2C that I used to start the generator for the first time. Although there are bleeder screws at the top of each fuel filter, I preferred to remove the fuel lines coming out of each filter can and then allow fuel to pump from each can; at that point I would hook up the next filter and continue on down the line. When I eventually cranked the generator, lots of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe and finally the motor started and ran like new! In an effort to try not to buy new batteries I hooked up the Solargizer to try and rejuvenate the batteries that came with the genset. I charged them overnight and a lot of the electrolite boiled out of one or more of the cells in each battery. Now I will see if the Solargizer will really put life back into the batteries like they say it will in the instruction sheet! Ready (almost) for the Florida Hurricane Season now!

Yes I did - cost me $888.00 and had to drive up to Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville Alabama to retrieve it. Little things had to be done to get it fired up but it will cover our electrical needs during future hurricane seasons here in Florida.
