  • @DTFclothing I bet, especially if you were stock block. Those stock rods are like toothpicks!

  • @vdubnu

    my point! I guess they're proud they made 600hp with a 3.4..lol

  • @z33twinturbo there was so much carnage inside that motor, ugh. glad i got rid of my vq.

  • @DTFclothing Oil pump failed because they were revving to 9krpm. The rev up oil pump is good to about 8500 but most people stop around 8k. I'll set my rev limit to 8.3k maybe 8.5k (motor's getting fully built by dynosty right now and have bc valvesprings + 272's)

But yeah the gears are the same between the new and old, the new ones have better syncros (triple cone on gears 1-3) and are generally improved.

  • @z33twinturbo sp used the 04 transmission, non cd009. cars oil pump snapped off, everything else held fine.

  • @rs200000000000 the 06 and up ones use a cd0009 and they are great transmissions.

The older ones the non cd0009's aren't quite as good and are known to have reliability issues though not everyone gets them. You can buy a used cd0009 for about a grand, I paid 950 for mine shipped with 6k miles one it. It's a direct swap to the older 6 speed mated to the vq. Just need new master cylinders, shifter linkage and clutch. SP racing put down over 1200whp using one.

  • what gearbox does the stock g35 use ? anyone know if its any good

  • trans is r154.. power is limited due to the turbo.. this is a drift car. We were going for a good mid range power. its well over 700 now on e85.

  • Love the swap! I just finished mine too but it's in a 300zx. But can I ask why you went all out with a 3.4 if all you want is 600whp with a 67? I made 726whp on my set-up with a used stock 3.0L. And what transmission are you using?

  • Fuck I want to do this to my '03 G35 sedan.
