We are your fathers, brothers and sons, wearing the boots, and carrying the guns. We are the ones that leave all we own, to make sure your future is carved in stone. The Few, The Proud, The Marines.

I can't take credit for the text, i found the poem elsewhere in an image.

  • @LBDoib I know it's something that is hard to explain as it is an emotion.. during WWII it was very dangerous to fly bombers.. the odds of getting killed were probably as great or greater than an infantry soldier BUT a person who volunteers for what may end up coming down to eye to eye combat is something that is somehow a cut above.. I assume that is also the reason the Marines stand a little taller in my eyes than the other branches of service.. hope this makes sense..

  • @LBDoib again very true.. don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for every single person who dons the uniform.. however I do make the distinction between those who purposely sign up for combat duty and those who are thrust into it by circumstance.. just like I see all Spartan warriors as equals, I reserve a special place for the 300 that stood at Thermopylae.. when rules change and women are allowed to serve combat in roles, then they will stand as equals with the men that also do so..

  • @MrMeanderthal This was true back in older wars, but nowadays there really aren't any "front lines" anymore. Women in roles from Motor T to Field Radio Operator are finding themselves in combat alongside men. Not to mention Military Police, which can also be women, who are attacked on patrols. I even know a woman who went Combat Camera to get herself attached to an Infantry unit because, as they put it, "As soon as I'm shot at, the camera goes down and I shoot right back."

  • @LBDoib that is very true but you cannot put them in the same category as the boys with the bayonets sleeping in the trenches.. well, maybe you can but I can't..

  • Were not in Israel. We supplied them with the equipment to defend themselves from the Tiranies surrounding them.

  • the Marines or any other branch are not fighting for that stuff. there fighting to Protect not only the U.S. But the world for terrorism.

  • Thank you you area true compassionate human being but please do not associate Obama with any of this if anything my friend he is making the us week and not standing up for what is right. But my friend i would gladly stand up next to you and fight because Israel is a fellow ally and a friend i have respect for you and your country and Iran needs to leave you alone but he is scared because you guys have the nuclear wepons and all he can do is make empty threats lol thanks again

  • Many thanks for posting this commercial, I've always wanted it!

  • I love America, I love democracy.

I am true when I say I hope you americans find peace becouse you more than any deserve it. Some people just didn't understand my comment becouse in Israel I think you are fighting and paying you tax money to protect a tirany, but now Obama is correcting that, talking against the invasion of palestine land.
