  • @nixops Thanks for your interest. For me it actually reminds me of that feeling you get when you know you should have stayed home in bed that morning. No doubt f****ing steam engines came up in conversation once or twice amongst those involved.

  • I remember that day very well indeed as I was on the footplate. Think we were reversing slowly when suddenly we heard the sound of diesel horns and hammered on the brakes. From then it was full steam ahead all the way. Great stuff

  • Wow! Superb! If I was driving/firing I would have used the shovel to spread sand along the line in front of the loco for a distance and also behind both sets of driving wheels front and back. Having the freight loco there was a big bonus. Looks to me judging by the video that it was quite a huge load for the loco up tough grades in inclement weather.
