I woke up to Justin watching TV at about 10AM. Cam:Where's Dad? Justin:Oh hey I didn't know you were up yet, he just finished his shower and should be out soon. My Dad walked out in his Rangers warm up shorts and shirt. Dad:Hey Cam. He walked over to me and kissed me on the top of my forehead. Dad:How did you sleep last night? Cam:I slept ok. Dad:Good, we have to meet the team in the lobby in 45 minutes so get ready. I got up and put on my pink Rangers jersey and some jean shorts. I put my hair in braided pig tails and slipped on my flip flops. Dad:Alright guys let's get going. We went down the elevator and walked to the lobby, and then I heard someone call my name. I saw Derek Holland running to me. Derek:Camryn, are you ok? Cam:Yeah? Derek:I heard what happened last night! Cam:Oh. Derek:I was so worried for you, and if I ever find that guy I will hurt him! I started laughing and he patted my back. The whole team was finally all together in the lobby so we took the team bus to the game. I sat in my Dad's lap because there was hardly any room and CJ Wilson was sitting next to us. CJ:Hey Camryn, I heard that you and Justin get to sit in the dugout today because of those Yankees fans! Cam:Really? CJ:Yeah, are you excited? Cam:Yeah! CJ started laughing. We shortly arrived at the Yankees stadium and went to the locker room. Dad:Hey Cam while we change into our uniforms you and Justin can go to the dugout and take our bags and start organizing our stuff. Cam:Ok! Justin and I took all their bags and went to the dugout. I put their helmets in the shelves and Justin put their gloves on the bench. Shortly after, they all walked in. CJ:Thanks kid. He said walking past me and patted my back. As they were all walking back in from warm-ups, they gave me a high five while walking past me. The game was about to start so I sat down on the bench next to my Dad. Ron walked over to my Dad and asked me to go sit at the other side of the bench because it was a private talk. My Dad has been in a slump lately so I guess he needs him to focus more. I walked over to Derek and CJ, and sat right in between them. Derek:Hey kid! I smiled. Cam:What's going on with Ron and my Dad? CJ:Last game I heard Ron say that Ian needs to fix his attitude, because he gets too mad at himself. Derek:It's true, he does. Cam:Oh. Today Derek was starting pitching so he ran onto the field, and CJ left to go to the bullpen because he was the closer. We got three up three down for the first five innings and scored three runs on them, but my Dad wasn't doing too well. He struck out the first at bat, and grounded out the next two at bats. My Dad was up to bat again, and Ron was watching closely. He hit it straight up right to the center fielder. As he was jogging down to first base, he slammed his bat on the ground. The centerfielder caught the ball so he was out. He walked into the dugout, and slammed his helmet on the wall. I walked over to Justin and sat next to him because I was scared. Justin put his arm around me, and Ron came up to us. He bent down so he was eye level with me. Ron:What is wrong with your Daddy? Cam:He's being a little bit of a hot head right now. Ron and Justin started laughing really hard. Ron:Maybe we should put him in timeout. That made me laugh, and my Dad was walking our way to get some water. Ron:Do you need a hug? He asked my Dad as he was walking by. My Dad stopped walking and turned around. Dad:Do I what? Ron:Do you need a hug? My Dad started laughing and didn't know what to say which made me and Justin laugh too. Ron patted my Dad's back, and walked towards the front of the dugout. My Dad suddenly looked like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders, and had a huge smile on his face. It was good to see that because I had a feeling that he was gonna do good after Ron helped him relax a little bit. It was the last inning and it was still 3-0, and not many Yankees had gotten hits. My Dad was up to bat for the last time, and he looked relaxed up there. Next thing I know he hit the ball right up the middle for a base hit! He was so happy when he touched first base, and he had a huge smile to prove it. Ron was cheering so loud for him because his "verbal hug" worked! Sometimes it takes a little comforting to get your mind set back. It's definitely not easy getting out of a slump but now my Dad knows how to fix it. I'm so happy he didn't lose his temper more than he did because it could have gotten real ugly. All I know is that he's back and better than ever.
