Owning a Pet? Handicapped Pets

I read some people opinions and did discussed with my friend about owning a pet. Some think it is cruel to own a pet because we are kind of imprisoning our pets in our household also we train them to behave properly which they could be free out in wild. I thought it was interesting as I love my pets, I think I give great life to our pets. Then I asked if anyone have handicapped pets? As my sister have two, one blind dog and one blind eye cat.

people should understand life in the ''wild'' is laden with danger and life expectancy and quality of life is greatly diminished

Many of my cats have chosen me and not the other way around. I don't understand how anyone could think the relationship between a person and their pet is cruel.

My mom had a cat that walked into the house one day and wouldn't leave lol. She claimed ownership to the place. It was hard on my mom when the end of her friend's life eventually came many years later. The cat had one eye.

as far as owning pets, i agree with you. it seems the pets enjoy their lives and us. it's only cruelty if you don't let them exercise or you hurt them or don't feed them etc. if you've ever seen the "dog whisperer" cesar milan, he says that dogs feel good having a pack mentality even if the leader is human. have you ever read "the life of pi" great book! part of it is a viewpoint on zoos and how they are good. i am vegetarian (not vegan) so cruelty to animals is an important issue to me
