KHUSHBOO
Khushboo is a quiet yet lovely 14 year old girl who is in her 10th standard. Khushboo lives in Rajgad (a village near Alwar, Rajasthan) with her family.

Financial condition of her family is very poor. Her father is a tutor and has a monthly income of Rs. 3,000/- which makes it difficult the family make the both ends meet. Khushboo has eight members in her family, she has three siblings who are currently studying. Khushboo herself is very good in studies and wants to become a doctor when she grows up.

Throughout her schooling she has been one of the best students. Khushboo also likes to play outdoor games with her friends. She is a very good dancer, and wants to pursue her dancing in the future.

THE PROBLEM SURFACES
When Khushboo was 12 years old, she started having severe back pain. While massaging her back her mother found that there was some kind of abnormality. Khushboo was taken to the doctor, who diagnosed that Khushboo was suffering from Scoliosis. This news came as a rude shock for both Khushboo and her family.

As the deformity increased the world around Khushboo changed. People started looking at her in a different way. In school also kids did not say anything directly to her but behind her back they use to make fun of her deformed spine. Her studies also suffered as she was not able to sit for long hours.

FEARING THE WORST
Khushboo is very sceptical about her future, she is beginning to have doubts if she will be able to become a doctor or not and if she would be able to continue her passion of dancing.

While her doctors have some other concerns and more serious ones, they fear if Khushboo is not treated, her deformity in spine can get aggravated and can completely impede Khushboo from carryingout even her day-to-day activities. It can slow down her reflexes and can make her completely dependent.

THE HOPE
After scoliosis was diagnosed Khushboo was taken to various hospitals in Rajasthan, but the cost of the surgery and treatment was beyond her parents reach. While visiting a doctor in Alwar they came to know about Save a Child Trust (SACT) and it services.

In August 2010 Khushboo visited SACT and met Dr. Chirayu, she was advised correctional surgery for her deformed spine. SACT in collaboration with GBH American Hospital Udaipur treats the poor children at a highly subsidized cost. The cost of the surgery under SACT initiative is 57% less than other hospitals.

REQUESTING FOR SUPPORT
As the financial condition of Khushboo family is very weak, they are not able to afford even the low cost surgery offered by SACT also.

Khushboo at present is waiting for surgery and therefore she and her family request for support so that she can have a bright future and can fulfill her dreams.

Total cost of surgery of Scoliosis in other hospitals is close to Rs400,000, whereas in SACT is Rs200,000.

Till now Rs114,000 has been raised for Khushboo by SACT, however the required amount is still short by Rs. 86,000. As we will receive this amount SACT will be able perform surgery on Khushboo. Your support in this regard can help Khushboo get a new lease of life and zest for living.
