A quick tour of a couple mine sites as told from the perspective of a character who doesn't necessarily buy into the conventional and nostalgic version of what miners were like back in the old days. Lots of toxic heavy metals and other hazardous materials left haphazardly throughout the desert thanks to those old timers! But it's all fun to explore nonetheless!

  • Driven insane by technology. Sounds about right.

  • @kenrg A whole section of Death Valley NP is closed to the public at this time due to unsafe conditions caused by mines and/or toxic materials left over from mining operations.

  • I really enjoy your works.

The visuals remind me of a place between Bullhead City and a place called Oatman.

  • @bowlingballout The video shows two mine sites in Echo Canyon (Death Valley NP). Most of my hikes are in or around Death Valley.

  • Great song, what were they mining for in this one

  • @faffytunes Most of the mines in the area were gold mines, but there were also silver, lead, and copper mines. There is also some uranium in the general area and a few other things...

  • @BRACK3N Thanks - Lots of interesting places to explore in and around Death Valley NP.

  • Brilliant, real cool song - That place would be brilliant to explore!

    : )

  • @blackturtleshow That was a MUCH APPRECIATED COMMENT FROM GREATGIG1 to the previous posting of this vid. There was a small mistake I had to correct!

  • Your vids are always so fun and this time, fun with some not so fun thoughts

of sweaty, crazy, old miners...lol "Crusty miners blabbin'"....ha!!

Everytime I think of how tough that life must have been back then in the

desert, I can't help but thank the powers that be for running water and

showers! I'm also thankful I don't have to smell the crust baking on those

ol' timers! I'm sure the crust was in layers baking for months. The thought

has made me need another shower! Bye for now...:-)
