cl_capturevideo 1 lets you record a video directly. It will get saved to data/videos/dpvideo000.avi.
However, the capturevideo code is incomplete in Nexuiz 2.3 (index writing is limited to a file size of 1GB, which is reached fast, so if you record a larger video, you will have to encode it with mencoder before you can use it in any other app). Nexuiz 2.4 will come with an improved AVI writer (and you can already use it by downloading the DarkPlaces engine from the developer's websites).
