@catchthewave91 It's all about the attitude Americans have to children and safety. Most British people I know have no problems with children walking to school. Paranoia has not struck yet.
I'm from a Northern European country, Norway, far larger than the entire UK but with a fraction of the population. However our cities have the exact same problems as yours. Our children still manage to walk safely to school even in the cities...
