This is Video Part 1 on The Last Airbender Film Cast...

My Cast Picks Vs. M.Night Shyamalan's Cast Picks...

I couldn't stand how bad the cast decisions were based on look and most important of all race!!! seeing how they always change the race on animes or anime like cartoons in film adaptions no matter were there from either America or East Asia, so i decided to make this video and choose who i thought would of been a more suitable person to play that role...
note: im well aware some of the actors i picked are actors that cant or maybe cant speak English but its sort of like a reference on what they should of been or at least looked like! =0

P.S. I do agree on some of the cast decisions... or should i say few... o_O

For the music I used all avatar the last airbender themes...

Here's a list of the names of characters in the Avatar Cartoon to further show these characters were indeed East Asian & Inuit related and not White & or Indian...

THE AIR NORMADS - Aang, Yangchen, Gyatso, Tashi, Afiko, Sister Iio, Jinju, Pasang,

THE FIRE NATION - Zuko, Azula, Ozai, Iroh, Jee, Jeong Jeong, Ruon-Jian, Azulon, Bujing, Kahchi, Kaja, Kuzon, Shinu, Shoji, Shu, Shyu, Sozin, Lee, Li, Liang, Lin Yee, Lu Ten, Chan, Chey, Chit Sang, Ta Min, Tom-Tom, Ty Lee, Ding, Xu/Bushi, Mai, Malu, Ming, Mongke, Mr. Yao, Ms. Kwan, Mung, Vachir, Ogodei, On Ji, Yeh-Lu, Yon Rha, Piandao, Poon, Ham Ghao, Ilah, Hide, Qin Lee, Qin, Zhao,

THE EARTH KINGDOM - Toph Bei Fong, Lao Bei Fong, Poppy Bei Fong, Long Feng, Joo Dee, Kuei, June, Sela, Sha-Mo, Shu, Sung, Suki, Sud, Star, Song, Kaya, Kenji, Bumi, Lee, Lian, Lily, Teo, Than, Tong, Tycho, Chin, Chong, Madame Macmu-Ling, Meng, Moku, Wei Jin, Aunt Wu, Ohev, Oma, Oyaji, Fong, Fung, Xin Fu, Gansu, Ghashiun, Gow, Pao, Pong, Pu-on Tim, Yi Ming, Ying, Yu, Yuan, Yung, Professor Zei, Quon, Haru, Hope, How, Jin, Jet, Jin Wei,

THE WATER TRIBE - Katara. Sokka, Arnook, Hakoda, Hahn, Gran Gran Kanna, Pupil Sangok, Princess Ursa, Kuruk, Kinto, Bato, Kya, Tho, Due, Ming, Ummi, Yugoda, Hama, Hiryu, Huu, Nini, Pakku

As you can see all these characters names from the Air Normads to The Fire Nation & The Earth Kingdom are most to all Asian related names & The Water Tribe are most to all Native related names there isnt a White or Indian name to be seen... that is of course for Guru Pathik who is indeed Indian.

Even the animals have Asian names...

Momo, Appa, Tui, Miyuki, Hei Bai, Enma, Fang, Wan Shi Tong, Koh

So i think its safe to say that the cartoon did have MAINLY ASIANS & INUITS! and not Whites or Indians or any other race you people keep bashing me about! im not the one whose wrong here, you are...

Lets face it M.Nights cast decision's based on look & even race were very, very horrible hopefully their acting isn't as bad as they look compared to the cartoon characters...

  • You do know that Chinese and Japanese aren't the only asians. Asia is not a country, it is a continent! I am sick of people saying that there's no asians in the film because you might not know this but INDIANS ARE ASIAN TOO!

  • @xilent234 Well I obviously meant East Asians duh...

  • Hindu isn't a race you idiot

  • @koolkubs Thanks for pointing out the obvious... I only said Hindu because idiotically i thought people would get confused with Indian as in the Inuits/Natives/Eskimos with Indians as in the ones from Asia... i know its not a race but when i say Hindu you can clearly identify with Indians because it's their main religion and 80% of them + are Hindus (not saying im right for saying all Indians are Hindus at least not the 20% =D)

  • I can understand u being upset about the story changes but to cry about race is stupid. It was M. Night recreation of the world. He may not have stuck with the ideal races but the fact that he made each tribe its own race was pretty good instead of mixing it all up completely.

  • @phatboybright

To you... Not to me... you dont have to agree with the video everyone is in titled to their own opinion but... as a "FAN" of the cartoon i think it was shit! and i based that on casting as i didnt know what the story would be yet because when i released this video "A YEAR AGO" it wasnt even OUT! and lets forget about race... because besides that the people he chose to cast didnt even look like the characters at all most or mostly all of them anyway.

  • Dev Patel as Sokka...I wouldn't have believed it because he sucked as Zuko but your right, they do look similar and I can see Dev Patel being able to crack a joke every once in a while.

I don't think suki was even in the movie, but am I the only one who thinks that Brenda Song could've done a pretty good job playing her??

I could see Kevin McNally as Iroh

Haru was ok....BUT HE LOOKS LIKE HE IS 10!!! katara is supposed to be somewhat interested in him, for crap's sake!!

  • I agree, but it would've made more sense if you called Indians South Asians to avoid confusian with native americans etc instead of hindus.

  • they screwed up my Avatar.... you do have make the choices for the cast, you are great, that much really good

  • AH Thank you finally someone else notices that this Zuko and the original look nothing a like

  • @Tommy3219 You must be white or you must not watch any anime (which is the style Avatar is based off of). I'm pretty sure Naruto isn't white.

  • @phatboybright And by each tribe as its own race you mean Air Nomads, Water Tribes, and Earth Kingdom people all look Caucasian, but Fire Nation (aka the villains) look dark and foreign? The point is that the blatant favoring of Caucasian actors/actresses for roles that were clearly influence by Chinese, Japanese, and Inuit culture while casting the dark and foreign-looking actors as villains. Examples of this are Dragonball, Aladdin, Lion King, and Prince of Persia.

  • @Astrid257 Japanese style animation (that Avatar uses or is inspired from) mixes eye color with ethnicity all the time as a form of stylization, not to be indicative of race. It's mostly facial features and structure that indicates a character's race. As such, water tribe characters cannot be white because their features, aside from eye color, looks nothing like white features. I cannot understand how no one can notice the jarring difference between the live-action cast and the original designs.

  • i understand where you're coming from, being a big fan of the show myself, but i do think you're dissing the race thing a little too much.

  • I agree with you about most of the characters but if you notice the water nation cannot be asian cause they have blue eyes.. I'd say the fire nation is chinese the water nation white.

  • I think you made some pretty good choices, I was also highly irritated by Commander Zhau and Zuko, Patel's role should be switched. Good job.
