Being a player who grew up in Denver and colo. springs, I was not only fortunate enough to be exposed to his one of a kind style but he played the rockies regularly being supported by Barry Fey, Wild Dogs,Brother Brother,Teaser,standing in the rain,Alexis,Post tostee,sweet burgandy,Dreamer. So many Masterpieces. No player ever touched My soul like Tommy Bolin did. His is still to this day my hero and will be my favorit till the day I meet him on the other side. God bless Mr. Tommy Bolin

@ketiep I too will consider that announcment among the sadest days of my life. From the first time I heard Standing in the Rain, till today I consider Tommy My hero as well. I hope when my time comes I will have the chance to stum some chords and watch his magic again...R.I.P TOMMY........HEAR UM HOWL.....

Dec. 4th 76 I was just 14 years old and and my Mom drove me and 3 best friends to Miami jai ali Fronton to see Jeff Beck with Jan Hammer. To be honest I did not know that much about the opening act Tommy Bolin. Let me tell you, this was no ordinary rock show of rowdy screaming fans. Instead it was quiet as opera from the minute Tommy started to Jam till he came back out after Beck. I remember looking around as people stared at the stage with thier jaw hanging open. Next days news was very sad.

I remember when my friend (a music encylopedia of whoswho) turned me on to Tommy. Found out we were neighbors as kids. How wierd! Anyway, Tommy was a genious. Even named my first born daughter after one of his songs. (well, not the song, but liked the name) Alexis. never forgotten!

@Fili76 Jump back
I will never forget the night I heard the bad news announced at a North Denver nightclub. He was my hero, never to be forgotten.

I would say in 1970 no one would have wanted to cut heads with Tommy ..not Blackmore, not Clapton, Beck, Page probably not Jimi and maybe not McCarty. Peter Green..very close. Tommy was just freaking badass. Before all that junk....anyway.
