you have a nice loft all you need to do now is drop these whites and get some real homers
-
@hafiz789 Nope. Unless you hand-rear them from a very young age but they can never be truely free-flying like pigeons.

I used to raised pigeons and gave away a pair of non-homing pigeons to a cousin who lived 39.4 miles away. Apparently when he took it home they escaped. The male came back to my house within a week and the female about a month later. What's amazing is that pair never flew that far away from my house before and they managed to find there home.

who can tell me how many white breads are they, and how many miles do they fly?

A quick question. Is it possible to rain doves i.e collared doves to be free range? do they have a homing instinct?

to make a long story short, you let them fly to learn the area around the loft and to build up flying strength, then start moving them down the road and they fly back to the loft, short distances, working them up to longer distances. They call them homing pigeons because they naturally will home back to the loft, no one has figured out for sure how they can do it ! Another one of mother natures mysteries.

hey i know this is kind of late.. but does your pigeons ever get chased by hawks.. or predatory birds?

Yes they do, just had a young bird become lunch for a falcon a few weeks ago. When I have a problem, I just keep them in the loft for a few weeks, and the predators move on eventually.
