You can put out a fire 2 ways, by useing a phone (use services thingy then click fire fighter)(unless you have a fire alarm (the same slot where the burgluar alarm is)
or a sim with a "brave" trait will put it out ^_^
and It DOES wreck your house, You can get rid of the ashs by click on them and your sim will clean it up and your furiture will vanish but you get money to buy some more ^_^

1 time on my sim's birthday , the cake was on fire i panic i didn't know what to do , so i let them all out of the house
