I've wanted to do this for a long time. I am a senior in high school and I'm going to play collegiate water polo after high school. Are there any rescues swimmers out there who can tell me if it would be attainable if went in right after college? I would imagine I'd be in some sort of shape. I really want to do this and I want to know what I'd have to do to get there.

Can someone please give me an idea on how to advance fast in the coast guard, I'm waiting to ship off to bootcamp and I'm having a hard time picking a job

@joey62978 there aren't tryouts to be an AST, after serving in the USCG for a certain amount of time you become eligible to apply and then go through an additional training course, nice try though.

how much do they get paid? should be expensive since they've work hard not including the risks

Im irish but ever since 3 generations of my family drowned off our coast in a storm I always new i wanted to be the one in the water to save people who otherwise would have drowned and when i saw the role that the coast guard rescue swimmer plays in the united states coast guard i knew in my heart thats what i wanted to do, i have already applied for greencard sponsorship, i plan on serving the american people as a rescue swimmer, its all i want in life, i want to be an AST more than anything.

im going in as a RESCUE SWIMMER right now at the age of 17!
parents signed release forms and everything!
i passed the try outs to be a rescue swimmer too, so i guess if theres anyone out there that cant wait to be in the coast gaurd............. right now JOIN a swimteam! a strong one! itll pay off
