yes, OBVIOUSLY. i moved away. (vancouver is all right, but definitely NOT the best city in the world by any stretch of the imagination).

they didnt run it in because it was like over 20 blocks and gretzky would've gotten mobbed. I was there we chased him down, it was nuts we were dodging cars and running into cops

@uberscheisse You obviously don't live in downtown Vancouver. He had a lot of space to cover, and if you watched on TV, people swarmed the truck. Vancouver is the greatest city in the world, but we have a lot of nut activist protesting college students who haven't figured out that we can't get a refund on the Games at this point. All that was missing when the torch came through UBC was Meghan McCain going, "I like, know a lot more than, like, older people and y'all are just stupid!"

i'm assuming it was a long way from BC Place to the exterior olympic cauldron. most torch bearers only run about 100 meters with it, and Gretzky had to definitely cover more ground than that. However he did get out and run the torch to the cauldron in the last leg of the relay.
Gotta give it up to Gretzky, though. Most well known, greatest achiever and ambassador of hockey and the Canadian spirit to the world. Walter Gretzky again must be amazed by another one of his son's great honors.
