A 1941 recording of my dad singing the Marine Corps Hymn. He performs with no instrumental backup. Listening to him will give you chills.

  • Awww, he makes me tear up - GOD love a loyal serviceman, or woman. :) The patriotism is so pure - makes me weep! Bless him!

  • @Sehoy1 Thanks you, sir. My dad would have appreciated your comment. It seemed to me every time he sang, it was like the first time. He never had to look at music or notes to remember ALL three verses.

  • I went to alcohol treatment at norfolk,Va.Thank God the Marines do take care of their own. They wanted me to re-inlist but God had other ideals.I have been sober 28 years now thank you Marine Corp.

  • Semper Fi, sir, and thank you for your service.

  • AHHH,....i love this!!! I was in the Marine reserves and was in Hotel company 2nd battalion at Parris Island. I graduated March 1991!! I love all the pictures.....this is SACRED.....!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • I would cough like crazy attempting to sing so deep. Only a Marine could pull this off !!

  • Wow, that was stunning. He had a very rich voice.

  • God Bless All Marines, and i can only hope one day i will be honored enough to become a marine and serve my country true. Semper Fi till the day that I die,

  • God bless you for posting this! And how lucky you are to have a Father who served in WWII as a Marine!

HELL of a war chest too! But one question...I saw an earlier pic where he had several"1st time, 2nd time" etc rifle expert badges, but the plaque showed him as "sharpshooter" in both rifle and pistol....what happened?

And SEMPER FUCKIN' FI!!" to your outstanding Father, Top Kirkbride! OOOH-RAH DEVIL DOG!!

  • a beautiful tribute, not only to Kirkbride, but to everyone who ever got to claim that title.

  • Thank you for sharing as it brings back memories of my youth. My Father, Mother and two Uncles served in WWII with the Marine Corps, myself in Vietnam. Alcohol and tobacco nearly took me also. God Bless.

  • it was great...MAY GOD BLESS HIM.
