Teaching Palin About Community Organizers

My response to Governor Palin's apparent lack of education on the pivotal, important role of community organizers and community organization in OUR lives, and specifically in HER life.

she wasnt making fun of community organizers, she was saying that being a mayor qualifies her to be president more than say a community organizer.

Then she should have said that, defended her own qualifications, instead of being sarcastic and snarky about community organizers. Imagine if Obama had come out attacking her as a PTA member - well yeah, that's part of her background, but not the extent of it. It was a ridiculous thing for her to do. And frankly, her shrinking favorability ratings has shown that the more people know of her, the less they like her. Fitting, as she's not very likable.

Did Susan B. Anthony actualy call herself a community organizer? The term itself seems like it was made up. Like Account Executive, for salesman. Sanitation Engineer, for garbage man, or my favorite Pumpologist, for the guy who fills your tank. I thought about using another term to describe my profession, "Emulsion Application Engineer", but they still refer to me as a dumb painter.

A community organizer is ANY person who organizes a group of individuals with some common interest in a collective fashion to give them a political voice. In the case of Susan B. Anthony, ABSOLUTELY. That coin does flip both ways, though - some organized communities are bad ones. But the idea that Palin tried to knock down Obama by ALSO knocking down a lot of people who do good, selfless work simply revealed the character we now know she does NOT possess.

We need good representation for Americans as creative, hard working, kind folks. 8 yrs of swagger and war for profit are 8 yrs too many. Elsewhere in the world people know it isn't all Americans that they dislike...just our government. I'm voting for a globally responsible government who will work hard to make us the cutting edge nation in science again leading us in clean energy technology.
