The War Drags On by Donovan.
The long Vietnam War. I don't like to censor comments but don't bash our troops; those that were in Vietnam or those engaged today. Remember, they answer to the men you elected and deserve respect.

  • Isn't it slightly hypocritical to ask the viewer to not criticise the troops when commenting on a song written by the man who also sung "the universal soldier (and he really is to blame)"?

  • Great video and a great song! Thank you!

  • I rember this song from when i was very young. thank you for posting it..it's been a very long time....

  • This song was written by Mick Softley and appears on Softley's album "Songs for Swinging Survivors". Donovan recorded it and another of Softley's songs "Goldwatch Blues" on his "Universal Soldier" EP. Mick recorded 8 albums and many of his songs are on Youtube - check him out.

  • @highvelocity2 , Very Much Appreciated :)

  • @ricadia donovan did not write this, it was originally done by british folk singer mick softly

  • @JorisDriepoot Thank you. I served there in 1971-1972

  • Never more appropriate then now. I played the crap out of this song when I was a free form DJ at KNAC-FM in 1969 in Long Beach, CA. Nobody was listening then except the young, who went off and died, just like today in Afgo. My heart cries as it did then. Brian Williams, anchor of NBC Nightly News will never know or understand this song. J.

  • @ChimneyBen Your ignorance and lack of understanding of what actually happened in the Vietnam War are only equalled by your arrant foolishness and lack of maturity and intelligence. What happened during the Vietnam War was a tragedy on an immense scale for the Vietnamese people, north and south, and for the people of the United States and those countries that were regional allies of the US that sent their young men as troops to fight the Communist insurgency in South Vietnam.
