  • No, I correct myself: it's sublime not only in the sense of revealing something about the human spirit, which it undoubtedly does, but rather the thing to which humanity stands in relation (or reverence/wonder), the ineffable "beyond" that is strived for. The object that perhaps is only accessible by reason or contemplation, cf. Kant, what you might call "God", or the infinite. As limited mortals we can receive intimations through a kind of transcendent experience through creative efforts.

  • You can really hear his expansive sound here. It's almost overwhelming to hear him in person crafting this sound, in its full coruscating, shimmering, soaring beauty. One can only imagine the breathtaking power of hearing him live. This recording reaches almost transcendental levels of wonder. The word is sublime - its beyond beauty - it evokes intimations of some place beyond the everyday, of some realm in which the human soul is expressed in its totality - a concentration of the human spirit.

  • Have anyone ever heard Coltrane play so much altissimo?

  • Just a perfect saxophonist

  • The perfect band.

  • Is there a transcription of this?

  • Hey man Trane started out listening to Charlie Parker and developed his own thing thru practice, keep at it and you'll see how awesome a life it can be haha

  • This is music. It sounds so perfect without any snythesizer or digital audio programms. I like it.

  • bendkafka, You are absolutely 100 thousand percent CORRECT. I couldn't have said it better. And I've loved John Coltrane since I first heard him!!!

  • he showed the world that it ain't what you play ,but how you play it.
