On December 29, 2011, Sonia and Nihal married at the Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills, California. Since the groom is Muslim, and the bride is Sikh, they celebrated their marriage with two ceremonies. The first was a Nikah (Islamic prenuptial contract), followed by the Anand Karaj (Sikh marriage ceremony). Following Sikh traditions, the bride and groom returned to the bride's home, where they held a farewell ceremony called a viddai or doli.
This bride and her family were extra special for me because I went to India with them for my own wedding shopping too! I spent a week with this fabulous family in Delhi, so covering this wedding was a pleasure.
