Between 22-28 May 2008, the Jerusalem Oratorio Chamber Choir visited Germany and, in honour of Israel's 60th anniversary of independence, performed, together with the Zamirchor from Bayreuth, a Hebrew cantata called "The Vision of the Dry Bones", to words from the Book of Ezekiel and music by Yitzchak Tavior. To perform such a work, in the city which witnessed the mass Nazi rallies in the 1930s and 1940s and which gave its name to the infamous Nuremberg Laws, was emotionally draining, but it was such a sweet revenge to hear the Israeli National Anthem reverberate to the very gallery where, 65 years ago, the Nazi High Command used to sit. Hitler and his minions are dust and ashes now, but the dry bones of the Jewish People rose from the ashes of Nazi Europe and, sixty years ago, created the State of Israel. This short video was taken during the general rehearsal with the Hofer Symphoniker on the morning of the concert in Nuremberg, May 26, 2008.
God bless Israel: a democratic country in the middle of hell.
Greetings from Brazil.
I may be christian, but i do appreciate you, israelis, for fighting for your people's freedom.
