Final F-14 Tomcat Landing
Republic Airport (KFRG)
Farmingdale, Long Island
Wednesday October 4, 2006

IN THIS VIDEO, an F-14 Tomcat from VF-31 "Tomcatters" made the final landing of a US Navy Tomcat at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York, just minutes away from where it was originally built. Felix 101, as everyone has come to call it, was the second to last Tomcat ever built by Grumman in Bethpage/Calverton in Long Island. The callsign for this final flight was "Felix 01" and the video was shot from mid-field at Republic Airport, and this is the only video of the aircraft shot from this location on or around Republic Airport. You'll see it come in for the overhead and land, as well as hearing the tower communications between the aircraft and other aircraft in and around Republic Airport.

Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • Wonder what that Pilot had to be thinking being the last person to ever fly a Tomcat. i would of refused to get out of the cockpit.

  • I wish the Navy would keep a few F-14's just for airshow demo's. It's always nice to see them fly. Would be much better then seeing them tied down in a desert somewhere.

  • greatest long range inceptor/ dogfighter of all time. my absolute favorite

  • @hotpocketpoison No, it was build by the Heinkel-Messerschmid corporation....IN OBERSCHWÄTZENGAU

  • @Bazgatow87 umm...this plane was made by the grumman corporation...IN NEW YORK

  • and now they have only the shitty f18 :(

  • german engineering at its best!

  • Only the Tomcat.

  • The F14s memory still lives in us and we will not forget it because Iran uses this beautiful airplane yet.

  • Looks like a typical carrier style landing. You spend your whole career landing hard on a football field and old habits will die hard.
