The vote bots are back. Smaller than before, and apparently attacking smaller channels (can anyone say cowards).

If you have been botted I think we should start getting some real numbers together.

i still dont quite understand whats going on, coughlan666's vid bought it to my attention,how is this being done? by who and how.

In short, there are programs out there that will automatically vote "one" for a video, or a list of videos, or a channel worth of videos.

These bots also can flag a video as containing hate speech, pornographic content, etc...

All this is in an attempt to prevent others from seeing the videos. Once a video gets downrated enough it ceases to show up in related videos lists, and is lower on many regular searches.

They're used by many people I'm sure, but the anecdotally the primary offenders seem to creationists and very ... enthusiastic followers of certain religions. Christianity and Islam mostly. Votebotting and flagging a video is a quick and easy way to help censor opinions that they find distateful.  eg: blasphemy, reasoned arguement, etc :P
