Circa 1965. Johnny is as spun-out on dope as I've ever seen him, tirelessly (if you know what I mean) advocating for Native Americans on Pete Seeger's TV show. It's amazing to think about the incredibly focused, compelling music Cash was producing during this period, in this practically near-death physical condition. Concludes with a run-through of "As Long As The Grass Shall Grow" that actually is more resonant for Cash's decrepit state.

I literally fucking ROFLed when I thought I heard Johnny Cash say, "Those are the white mans' fucking leaves!" I literally ROFLed. But that's not what he said. Imagine it thoguh.
Fantastic posting and story telling. Also Sad to see John in this state. But truely amazing he keep the focus. Nice of June to help him. -smiles- Cash is the man- And will always be.
Im at the end of his biography..where he and June done the movie Gospel Road..its a real interesting story of how he lived his life..that man was lucky to have lived as long as he did..i believe it was true what June said..he was touched by God..he done so many things that could have ended his life at the time..and somehow..he survived it all..he was walking death at the time..
