  • Being able to talk to other people will not get rid of loneliness. Loneliness is not something that can be healed that easily. There is some truth to what you are saying, but that does not apply to the loneliness I am living with.

  • I think the times I have felt the least lonely if when I feel listened to and understood. People are just to busy to take the time.

What I think is really sad is they don't even listen to you when your paying them to.

  • There is a higher level I think. Anthony Demello once said that the cure for loneliness is not the company of humans but contact with reality. Check out 1) Adyashanti on Loneliness (Audio) and 2) Tara Singh - Rest the brain (Audio) for truly liberating perspectives.

  • @Puppet72561 wow - thank you - i found that experience too. Therapists are useless because they have their own agendas. This is such a common and unfortunate situation and I have found so little on this topic on YouTube.

  • @luffyhiei same here...I'm around people all day, but it's by force at work and school, I'm still lonely as hell.

  • im in the army and it gets pretty lonely here...

  • Intense loneliness is not something I would even wish on my enemies or those I loathe. I have experienced rage, pain, stress.. but of all negative emotions, I think this sort of loneliness may be the worst because it casts a dark shadow over every other aspect of my life... In the UK we have a charity called 'the Samaritans' - volunteers whom we can phone anonymously and talk to about anything troubling us without being judged- I have used them a few times and it has been temporarilly helpful.

  • that body language and face to face dialogue is a lot more revealing that any of these digital mediums, which though they certainly have benefits, offer nothing for the intense loneliness of being a lifelong singleton. I agree with luffyhieu; friendship and dialogue can help ease the pain a little, but only a little. I get on well with women and I have many female friends but the truth is right now the desire for something more intimate is overwhelming and distracting me from everything else

  • Thankyou for the video. I think there is certainly truth in the idea that digital mediums are taking away our basic human connections; I am British and right now there is a young Chinese woman I am deeply falling for- she phoned yesterday to clarify something and it took several phonecalls and Facebook for me to establish that it was her! Now she has left a message online and I don't know what to make of it- as a result paranoia sinks in. I want so much to see her again in person because I think

  • If your parents never showed up to see a batting average like that then that's their loss :)
