This is from the opening reception at DVA Gallery's 3rd Annual Gala Tiki event in Chicago. I can't remember the name of the dance troupe, but as you can see, they are amazing dancers.

  • We do suck on this video!!! LOL...Sometimes we perform great and sometimes we suck!!! This ain't tahitian and it's not hula...other pacific islands also do hip shaking with different rules.

  • I thought y'all looked great, but I'm definitely no expert on Polynesian dancing. Are y'all going to be at this years Tiki opening?

  • @Toibelz: Thank you! The beats are different because it is a fusion of modern & traditional cook islands drumming but original to the band who are inspired by both -which is why it has its own unique soulful sound -The dance is a fusion - more similar to cook island & ellice island in whom Tokelauns have copied some of their shaking movements from. It is not "originally" Tokelaun - Tokelauns have their own traditional dances that has nothing to do with shaking hips but they do it (drums come).

  • @oOHulaGirlOo Wow I am impressed that you know this is not hula...Your name is Hula girl so you should def. know :-) Island love!

  • i thought that was my ex wahine on the far right hahaha nope looks like the same butt and almost identical body movements but shes to tall to be her haha

  • wow a lot of people are HATERS!!!! I might be hauole on the outside but my grandfathers family was born and raised in Hawaii making me part hawaiian! Boo on all of you hating people who do not have anything better to do than that! You should just appreciate spreading the love for the polynesian culture!!

  • @Tawawili and which islands are those? The drumming in comparison to your dancing is simply offensive and a joke. This I would expect from elementary kids but from grown ass girls like yourselves. . . I cannot believe this bullshit. Please do us all a favor and delete this video.

  • Dude, not sure what you were trying to do. (cook island or Tahitian?) But this sure wasnt hula. That I know for sure! hahaha Hula is absolutley nothing like this at all.
