Speaker Pelosi - Protecting Kids from Toxic Toys

The House debates the final agreement on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, H.R. 4040. This landmark, bipartisan legislation takes several key steps to make children and all Americans safer, including essentially eliminating lead from toys and children's products; prohibiting the use of dangerous phthalates in children's toys and child care products; and providing the Consumer Product Safety Commission with significantly greater resources and personnel. Speaker Pelosi speaks in favor.

In less than six and a half minutes, she says the word "children" 17 times. That's the perfect way to scare people into supporting something - say it's "For the Children". No matter how many small American businesses it will close in an already failing economy. Never mind that of those - what was it, over 40 million? - toys recalled in 2007, over 19 million alone were imported from China by Mattel (the worlds largest toy importing company). Mattel won't close because of the CPSIA though.

Come August 14, 2009, The Public Law 110-314,,,The CPSIA Law of 2008 will go into effict. Looks like congress was just blowing smoke up our ,,, so we would go away. Time to tell our representatives, in congress, that this is a bad law and we demand it be either thrown in the trash or rewritten. Of course, if they want to be like ms pileosiiii they might want to look for a new job.
