Dropping an ash tree with significant rot at Lethenty Mill (Aberdeenshire). I want to use some of this wood and leaving the tree standing is not an option as the rot is increasing at several levels and I am left with less and less usable timber for my furniture making projects.

My son and I started cutting this tree down with a Victorian two-handed saw but the lump of rotten wood in the heart was causing the saw to jam. Eventually one of the handles broke and we had to finish it off with an axe and wedges.
