The Loch Long Torpedo Range operated on the loch from 1912 to 1986. The abandoned Admiralty buildings, pier, and slipway remained on the west shore of the loch, opposite the village of Arrochar, until 2007, when demolition of the site began, and it was also subject to destruction by fire.

Originally an Admiralty facility, the range became the Royal Naval Torpedo Testing Station and Range, later referred to as both the Loch Long Torpedo Range, and the Arrochar Torpedo Range.

Activity at the range reached a peak during World War II, with more than 12,000 torpedoes being fired down the loch in 1944.

  • excellent asthetics...although i find the subject material far more interesting! Any history on the facility ie, when it ceased to operate? Do you think it was used for some other purpose other than torpedo testing?

    Excellent !!

  • @shotfirer1972 I think it's always been a torpedo testing station, there's some more info on the secret scotland website on the description if you want a read. A German spy was killed in WW2 for visiting there.

  • do use a filter to get the vignette or is that edited in with Premier Pro?

  • @bjazzo02 I use Magic Bullet Looks for most of the visual colour grading and vignette which is a plugin for Premiere Pro :)

  • the second scene from 0:15 was epic in my eyes :)

like the intro to a film or a documentary - love the chilled out feel of the whole video though - im guessing youve done quiet afew video editing effects though

very impressed with the Panasonic SD60 footage - seems since i bought my "apparently" HD videocam technologys improved ;)

  • @dannyday58218195 Yeah the Panasonic SD60 is considered a budget camera as well but it really is pretty good for what it is! Appreciate the comment Danny and yeah I did do quite a bit of editing ;)
