(1995) This is a short video documenting the imagery and functionality of the Virtual Reality Art project "Crayoland" created for the CAVE® by Dave Pape (PhD alumni) while at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory, University of Illinois at Chicago.
The environment is anti-photorealistic; it is built entirely from crude crayon drawings; the drawings are all flat 2 dimensional objects, but form a 3 dimensional world. Although the environment is created from drawings, the ambient sounds that guide the user are natural - bees buzzing, water, the user's footsteps, etc.
