I wanted to be comfortable w/ realism before getting into abstract art, sort of like Piccasso. I think that it's important to acknowledge where abstract came from and why we do it, and not take it for granted (now, it's more popular than realism). Art can't be defined really, but it is a skill. Abstract is sometimes not regarded enough as a skill, I think.
