  • Anyone having the problem where you cannot save, here's what I did:

    1. Go to "Go" in the menubar and type: /private (which contains /etc and in turn the hosts file).

    2. Right click or Cmd+Click the /etc folder and unlock it, then click the little + at the bottom left hand corner, then add your account and change the privilege type to "Read & Write".

    3. Open up /etc and repeat step two for the hosts file itself.
