SHEILA AND THE INSECTS
DESOLATE - ORIGINALLY BY "THE END", PART OF THE NEW CEBU MUSIC ERA. THE EARLY VERSION SUCKED. THE END CHANGED SOME ITS MEMBERS AND ALSO ADAPT A NEW NAME UNDER SATI.
THE VIDEO WAS RECORDER AT THE NU107 ROCK AWARDS, WHERE THE BAND ORIGINALLY PLAYED EVERYDAY DRIVE.
AND THE AUDIO ON THIS ONE, WAS RECORDED AT A CERTAIN GIG IN AYALA CEBU.
I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THIS SONG "DESOLATE" SHOULD BE THE BAND'S ANTHEM. THIS WAS THEIR BREAKTHROUGH HIT. THIS WAS THE 4TH TRACK ON THEIR TANGIBLE RHYMES LP. BUT LONG BEFORE, Y101 ALREADY HAS THIS SONG ON HEAVY ROTATION ALONG WITH THE LOCAL VOCAL & PROUD ERA. I USED TO HATE THIS SONG THEN, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT NEW WAVE, I ONLY UNDERSTAND BTU & THE MONKS MUSIC. LATER, I'VE FIGURED OUT THAT THERE'S MORE THAN JUST THE UNSKINNY BOPS......
I still remember this song in the early 90's. Ian and Blair we're still my classmates then at the USC-TC taking-up Civil Eng'g.. They called their group "THE END". Blair being from a European decent gave justice to the voice of the band who idolizes The Smiths, The Bolshois and even The Cure.

I remember that this is Blair Kriekenbeek's voice.
The point about New Wave era songs is that, its the alternative music for those who are tired and sick of the mainstream influx of "pop" bands. It is the basic signature of the non conforming and progressive set of people. That was why, very few knew about it and yet too many these days claim they are new wavers.
