This is a horrible tutorial... old software, no voice, and you can barely see the screen hes working with. Here's a pointer for the guy who asked the question: "It doesent say select layer transparency on cs4 ?

You're absolutely correct. What you need to do is make the same pen tool path on the same layer as the X. then "select all pixels" on that layer to select the X, then you just go to the "paths" tab on the right and right click your "work path" fill path with white.

You can just manually select the letter using the magic wand tool. I think it does the same thing... or i hope so..

Can someone please let me know if any pre-CS3 Photoshop versions work with Leopard? Are there any side affects/hick ups that occur by running any of them on Leopard?

I don't understand what you're trying to get at. I added the gloss and add a reflection bevel at the top.
