Murrow exposed McCarthy for the bullying blowhard that he was. For him to defend German soldiers accuseed of murdering unarmed America POW'S is downright UnAmerican .
What the American media needs today is someone to standup and expose Ann Coulter in the same way Edward R. Murrow exposed Joe McCarthy.
In his time, McCarthy turned character assassination into a zen art and Ann Coulter has raised it to unbelievable heights.

This video would apply to present day McCarthys: Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney and his war mongering profiteers, the Religious Right profiteers, FOX News, nearly the entire Republican Party and ALL of the Tea Party. The lies they spew to incite racism, anger and fear in American citizens need to be exposed. We are still waiting for our present day Edward R. Murrow to find the courage. Murrow was truly a brave man to confront the brand of fascism that McCarthy was imposing upon our nation.

@mhharris08 "NO this is how CNN ABC NBC MSNBC all are ...we face the same thing today!! exept that there are more McCarthy like in the media or who have sold out to the 100%"
...So you're suggesting it isCNN, ABC and MSNBC who is accusing people of being anti-American and demanding they take loyalty oaths? It's not Glenn Beck who accuses anyone he doesn't like or doesn't agree with him of being communists?
Could you give me some relevant and specfic quotes from those channels newspeople?

McCarthy was a hero. The communists are taking over America now and making slaves of people. Don't believe me? Time will tell.

While tens of millions were being executed, torn from their families, subjected to forced starvations as a matter of government policy, packed on trains, and sent to Siberian gulags in the glorious USSR, about two hundred people in America were blacklisted from a single frivolous industry. They could still go to Paris or sell real estate or do any number of things. They just couldn’t work in the movies. That was the only price they paid for shilling for a mass murderer.

...that's just insane! The US was doing stuff like they were doing in the Soviet Union, though not nearly as bad, McCarthy was kind of like the assholes in Germany and Russia in the years before.

@dabell43 do you know the name of the guy speaking at 1:43, i was hoping to quote him in an essay

@MrEMinor
The guy at 1:43 is Mike Wallace, who had about a 30 year career on "60 Minutes," and in fact was the original co-host (along with Harry Reasoner). Had an interesting career, starting as a radio announcer and commercial pitchman, then a hard-hitting interviewer on television ("Wallace at Large" in the '50s) and then a broadcast journalist with CBS for many, many years. He's portrayed in the 1999 movie The Insider by Christopher Plummer.
